Ski Report - Southern Herkimer County 03/30/2008 Who'da thunk it. Woke up Thursday morning to 6 inches of new snow. Very light and fluffy, on the wet ground it would not ski. Gentle flakefall, off and on all day, Friday morn hearlded seven inches. Temperature was remaing just about frezing, still unskiable fluff. Then it got cold, 6F when I woke this morning. Started to warm but I thought, Maybe it consolidated into a thin base that can be skied? By the trime Monte and I got out there, temperature was 31.9 F, just frezing. Not bad, not a lot of padding for the lumps and grass tufts, but not bad on a golf course. GOOoodd glide, kick not so good, was getting warmer all the time. Didn't dare to do any hills like that, decided to go down the aisle. Through the hedge backwards would be plenty daring for me. Just at the entrance, usual exit, slipped on the thin melty crust. Came down hard on the back of my head, saw stars, didn't hear any birds. Done with daring for this day, I staggered home. Monte thought I was too slow. 36F when I came in. No pain.
